It’s not about where you start, it’s where you finish.
What I want to share with you today is this…
It’s not where you start it’s where you finish.
My start was in a tiny house with no running water, an outhouse, a kitchen you had to go outside to get to, and cabinets that were often bare.
I lived this way until I was 14 years old.
I had no money, no connections, and what seemed no way out.
What I did have was hope. And a deep (so very deep) longing.
I knew I wanted more. Wanted to have more.
Be more. Experience more. Feel more.
Yes, it was hard overcoming the shame I felt over a lack of education, an alcoholic and drug addict father, an abusive mother…
…clothes that were often dirty, sexual abuse I had endured, and a million other things it would take too long to mention here.
But I realized that it was up to me to turn it all around. No one was coming to save me.
I also realized that it’s not where you start but where you finish.
So every single day, I looked at what other people who lived the life I wanted to live did.
How they spoke. What they wore. What they read.
How they carried themselves. And I acted as if.
I did this for decades. I played the long game.
And it worked.
I never forget where I came from and I try hard every day to encourage, inspire, motivate, and support others who woke up one day and said, “I don’t have to live my life like this anymore” and made a change.
YOU can make this choice too. You can open the door any time you want and walk into the life that’s waiting for you.
It won’t be easy. It won’t always be fun. But it will always, always be worth it.
So today, take some time to focus on where you want to go, not where you’ve been. What is your next? And what one thing can you do to walk through the door?
Love you!
Cynthia
