I'm Cynthia Garcia. I grew up in extreme Appalachian poverty. No running water until I was 15, bathing in a creek, using an outhouse as a bathroom. I skipped lunch in school because I was too embarrassed to use my free lunch ticket.
But I had a vision of a different life. And I refused to settle.
